Why UDP?

Modern social media is a world-spanning megaphone rather than town square, let alone a gathering of family and friends. It is also a data sink that wants to funnel your personal details and experience into some VC- or shareholder-controlled data plane, where each platform scrapes it and tries to get you and your friends to look at anything other than what you actually want to see.

With UDP Social, we want to flip that model on it’s head. You curate what you want to see, who you want to hear from, and how you want to share. We configure a small bit of cloud compute to do exactly that for you, on your behalf. No algorithm. Full control of your data. By default, a tightly restricted radius of trusted data sharing. No algorithms, no data scraping. We aim to be the best answer to the question “I want to share with my child’s first steps with friends and family, but no one else: How do I do that?”.

And if you decide you want that record gone, that’s your choice. No scraped copies in the ether, no “content retention” fine-print. You own that post, and that includes the right to delete it.
